This is one of the bread and butter banjos of the Gibson Company. The modern RB250 saw it’s fingerboard inlays change from the bowtie of the 1960’s to the modern “leaves and bowes esk” and the headstock change to the fiddle cut with version of the “diamonds and squares”. This banjo is a two piece flange model with nickel plated hardware. Excellent condition.

The Deering 06 tone ring and flower inlays are key elements of the Maple Blossom banjo. Maple Blossom is made from Eastern violin grade curly maple, stained with a dark walnut stain, and adorned with flower mother of pearl inlays. When this individually selected wood is built into a banjo with the genuine Deering -06-bronze tone ring, 3-ply violin grade maple rim, and one piece zinc flange, the result is a banjo that is so bright, crisp and clear that every note pops out of this banjo with precision and power. The Deering -06- tone ring produces a beautiful, balanced overtone spectrum. Its weight is ideal for most styles played on the banjo. A softer touch will provide you with as much sustain as you ever want, a sharper attack will produce a distinct pop and accurate note separation. You will notice no dead spots over the entire fingerboard. The beautiful highs and powerful well rounded bass is the result of intense study of alloys and shapes which resulted in the new -06- tone ring you hear in the great tone of the Maple Blossom banjo today.

My wife and I have been avid collectors for most of our adult lives. There is very little that can match the beauty of a fine fretted instrument. We have also always been customers of First Quality for all of our needs. Our collection comes from a number of sources, including guitar shows, NAMM shows, music stores, other collectors, and even a couple internet purchases. The hunt for quality guitars and banjo’s has been as much a pleasure to us as owning the instruments. Our “rule of thumb” has always been to buy professional quality, mint or excellent condition, and a wide variety of brands. This is why our collection is so diverse with Martin’s, Gibson’s, Taylor’s, Guild’s, Gretsch’s, etc. Also, many of our pieces have some years on them…but never tuned up or played. I would think that there will be some sweet sounds flowing out of some of these instruments. Due to space restrictions, we have come to the conclusion that it’s time to offer a few of our instruments to customers of First Quality. We know these customers will value and enjoy these items, and will treasure and get some good use of them for years to come. Thanks for considering our collection.

We’re so happy to be able to give our friends a hand with moving some of their collection. A little something for players and collectors alike. Check out the videos, we’d love to hear from you.
We took in a trade in banjo today and it’s a dandy! Our good friend Arthur Hatfield from Glasgow, Ky is one of the finest builders in our industry and this banjo came out of his shop round 2006. It is one of his “Special” models, with Gotoh tuners, a Walnut resonator and neck and a Hatfield tone ring. The burl walnut resonator is beautifully figured and the binding has an aged look. The banjo sounds great and only shows minimal playing wear. Priced at $1,999.00 it would be a great buy for a pro or someone looking for professional quality instrument.
Looking for that great mahogany banjo? Well look no further, we just received a brand new Sullivan Classic Bardstown. This one sounds great and is a beauty! Give a listen and give Murrell a call!
We just received a Sullivan Vintage 35 and a Classic Bardstown from Sullivan Banjo Company. These banjos are crafted of the finest Honduras Mahogany and have the now famous Sullivan Banjo tone rings. If you’re in the market for a new banjo drop in and see us and get you hands on a Sullivan. You’ll be glad you did.
